University of Miami – First annual Leadership Summit

Guest speaker Ivette J. Russo

The University of Miami Upward Bound Scholars Program is proud to present its first annual Leadership Summit “Already a Leader” for Miami Dade County high school students. Focusing on current and prospective student leaders, the summit is aimed at fostering positive leadership qualities already present in our youth. “Already a Leader” will provide examples of these qualities within students and present to them a path from which they can follow in order to perfect and personify the talents required to lead our community and the world to a better place in the future. The purpose of the Leadership Summit is to offer more than a venue for presenters/leaders to inundate students with leadership rhetoric but instead provide practical and concrete methods of effective leadership skills. Through personable discussions and state of the art technology the “Already a Leader” Leadership Summit will invoke leadership perseverance in all who participate.

The Leadership Summit is schedule for April 30, 2011 on the University of Miami Coral Gables Campus in the Memorial Classroom Building. We will begin promptly at 9:30am and will conclude the program 2:00pm. Lunch will be provided. Registration is required and will be on a first come first serve basis. Seating is limited to 200 person capacity; therefore, the maximum registration is limited to 200. Once the maximum capacity has been reached, a waiting list will be established and students on the waiting list will be notified in the event of cancellations. Also, students who are not able to attend but have registered will be considered for priority seating for next year’s summit.
